Known for their detailed nail art and three consecutive ‘Nail Artist of the Year’ wins at the Contessa Awards, TIPS Nail Bar has opened up their new location in one of Toronto’s west-end neighbourhoods, Trinity Bellwoods.
“My team has helped build the continuous growth we’ve had over the last 13 years, so I wanted to make sure that they wanted to be a part of the new location,” explains TIPS Nail Bar owner, Leeanne Colley.
“We developed a strategy to make TIPS West as close to TIPS East as we could. This means that when you walk in the door, you’re not going to see a team of brand new faces.”
Colley explains that the TIPS West location will have one familiar face each day from the TIPS “OG” senior team.
“There will always be someone here from the Danforth location, so you’ll never feel like you’re walking in and seeing a brand new set of people,” she says. “The culture, values and level of experience that we have at our East location will be replicated at the West location.”
TIPS West’s pièce de résistance is the first-ever “mani-cam,” similar to a photo booth, but for manicures; something that Colley had always wanted to implement into her nail bar.
“After a lot of research, we found a start-up company and together we were able to make it happen,” explains Colley. “You put your hands into the mani-cam, it takes a photo of your manicure and you can email it to yourself directly. I’m also working on creating an official app for the mani-cam that will also be trademarked.”
Their exceptionally detailed nail art and dedicated nail artists has landed them multiple wins at the Contessa Awards, which is something Colley is extremely proud of.
“We’ve had three Contessa wins in a row which is really exciting. The most important thing to me, is that the whole team gets to be a part of the entire experience from start to finish,” explains Colley.
“It just goes to show everyone that it’s not about competing against one another, it’s about supporting each other.”
