From the show floor to the city streets, here are our top picks for things to do and see in Toronto during the ABA show at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, March 24 & 25.
-If your 2013 goal is to grow business among male clients, stop by Halsey Gonsalves’ presentation at the Dannyco educational theatre. Gonsalves owns the Fiorio Richmond Hill location, and specializes in men’s cuts along with women’s long hair.
-For the first time, Colomer Canada will host four rotating classes at the same time with a varied team of artists and educators. From cutting techniques to colouring trends in the hottest shades, get the salon team together for this interactive education.
-Make sure to check out the Main Stage at 5:00pm on the 24 for an imaginative, four segment presentation featuring stylists from OneStyling, Matrix, Rusk and Farouk Systems
-Remember to bringyour old/unwanted scissors to the Salon Magazine booth! We’ll be collecting them, along with used brushes, combs, clips, etc., on behalf of Edwin Johnston and A Cutting Room Creative for a Rotary International group that is helping beauty schools in Africa. Clean out your drawers and supply cabinets and donate your scissors for a very good cause!
-For a night out with all the bells and whistles, make a reservation at Aria (25 York St.), a refined Italian restaurant with a wine cellar worth more than $750,000 and a full grappa menu to round out the whole meal. Then, pick your salon’s next conversation piece at Monocle (776 College St.), where the international, tasteful and eclectic abound. This is the fifth location in the world after London, New York, Tokyo and Hong Kong.
