In the heart of east London’s up-and-coming arts district, Unite kicked off its annual Global Session at Shoreditch Town Hall with more than 300 hairstylists from around the world. Featuring a collective of 16 international artists, the two-day event ran on October 3 and 4 and included a range of stage presentations from contemporary upstyling looks to street-style inspired cuts to men’s grooming trends, the teams led by creative director Gary Baker. Unite’s CEO and founder Andrew Dale, along with newly-appointed director of business education U.K., David Drew provided commentary during the event.
Presenters including award-winning hairstylist Karine Jackson, Simon Izzard and Daniel Jordan, discussed the inspiration for their collections, along with offering tips and tricks for translating these looks when working with clients in the salon. Global Session’s finale featured an avant garde presentation with an artistic collaboration between Inanch Emir and Natasha Pearson, a haute couture looks from Salon F&M and an interpretation of texture from Gary Baker. Look and Learn sessions along with Unite’s business development program lead by Andrew Dale followed the two days of creative inspiration.
