Wella Professional announced a large charity initiative launching in 2013, called Hairdressers at Heart, at a press event in New York on November 13. The program will offer educational and monetary support to hairstylists at critical points in their careers, from young student stylists to established hairdressers who have been in the industry for years.
The program is designed around four key pillars: scholarship opportunities for students, development through competitions and mentorship for young talent, childcare tuition discounts for working stylists and charity grants for salon owners.
“Hairdressers at Heart is designed to meet the most essential needs of stylists and to provide continuous guidance and aid opportunities through the many stages of their careers,” said Reuben Carranza, CEO of Wella North America.
Each pillar has a representative from the industry, who were each present at the launch announcement to share their personal stories, including Stephen Moody, Wella Global Education Academy dean, who will be the face of Student Talent programs.
