When you’re looking for new products and services for your salon, the best way to narrow the field is to try them out for yourself. Dee Dagher, of Brennen Demelo Studio in Toronto, knows that firsthand. She shares her most recent experience trying out a new service—and why she’s ready to sing its praises!
“I recently met with a Liquid Keratin representative and got to try their product in my hair for the first time. I was a bit skeptical to have the treatment, since others in the category have been removed from the market. She assured me that it was nothing like those and was completely safe and formaldehyde-free. In fact, she preformed the whole treatment with her bare hands—no gloves—and there were no odor or fumes.
I’ve had the treatment in my hair now for more than two weeks and I can say that I am in love with it! I can still achieve volume in my hair with the help of some product and it still holds curl when I use a curling iron. My blow-drying time has been cut significantly. I have curly, frizzy, dry hair that I would never dream of allowing to dry naturally because it would be a hot mess! Now I have the option of allowing it to dry naturally, leaving me with a slight natural frizz-free wave.
I am a firm believer that you have to gain the trust of your clients in order to have a solid clientele. I would never recommend a product to a client that I don’t believe in 100 per cent. After trying it for myself, I’ve now brought it into my salon and have been recommending it to all my frizzy, curly and unruly-haired clients. Not only is it beneficial for my clients, it is also beneficial for me as a stylist. Win-win!”
