Salon Magazine was there when Contessa winner 2012 Master Colourist and Makeover Colourist was putting his final touches to his Contessa collections.
Salon Magazine: What do you like about the Contessas?
Timothy Switzer: What I love about the Contessas is that, as a stylist, it gives me the opportunity to step back from behind the chair, to show my creativity and to show something different. Something that is really me.
SM: Why did you choose Montreal as the location for your current Contessa photoshoot?
TS: Montreal as a backdrop is very European. It’s very appealing to the eye. For this collection we wanted to shoot on location, and Plateau Mont-Royal is definitely the place to be in Montreal.
SM: Would you consider moving here?
TS: I absolutely love Montreal! It’s like my home away from home.
SM: What is your inspiration for this collection?
TS: There is a strong 80’s influence with a lot of multi-textured hair. We’re definitely going for lots of volume. In terms of makeup, in the spirit of the 80’s: full brows, big lips and dark nails. The wardrobe is very rock ‘n roll chic. Faded denim. Things that create a nice contrast with the texture that’s appearing in the hair.
SM: Who’s on your team today?
TS: Our photographer, Greg Swales, stylist Mathew Chow, as well as Ivana Manoski Anderson GTA Chicago, Emilie Weissmann GTA Montréal, and Simon-Pierre Daoust, all from North American Artistic Team, Goldwell. And we’re shooting at Salon Planète Hair on St-Denis.
