Wedding season is here and the fuss of having perfect wedding hair is more real than ever. Since we are all slowly adjusting to this “new normal,” there’s no doubt that your clients’ dream weddings will look a little different than anticipated. Help ease their minds and help make their day as perfect as ever, by creating beautiful and timeless wedding hairstyles for them.
In these unprecedented times, every bride should be able to have an easy, no-stress ‘do for their special day. We have two romantic hairstyles for all hair types and all the details needed to recreate these looks on your clients, from Moroccanoil artistic director Kevin Hughes! Check out how to create your clients’ dream bridal hair, just in time for wedding season!
Look 1 – Classic Chignon
STEP 1: Start by pulling the hair into a tight or slightly loose ponytail at any desired height (low, middle or high).
STEP 2: Next, secure your ponytail with a hair bungee (an elastic with two ends), so that you can easily wrap around your ponytail.
Pro Tip: You can also use any hair elastic and attach two bobby pins on each side to create your own hair bungee!
STEP 3: Next, divide your ponytail into two or more sections (for brides with thick hair). Take one section and divide into two additional sections to begin a rope braid. To create the perfect rope braid, twist both strands and rope them over each other. Once you are happy with the result, tie with a clear elastic band and repeat on the other side.
STEP 4: Finally, wrap both sections to the base of your original ponytail and use your favourite bobby pins or clips to keep your hair in place for the entire evening!
Hughes suggests products such as Moroccanoil’s Treatment, Perfect Defense Heat Protectant, and the brand’s Smoothing Lotion to prep, protect and maintain the hair all day.
Look 2 – Boho Half-Up Half-Down Style
STEP 1: Using a 1.25 inch curling iron, start by curling each section of your hair away from your face to create maximum volume. If you want to accomplish that casual beachy vibe, leave the last two to three inches of your hair straight or its natural state.
STEP 2: Next, select a 2 inch by 2-inch section above your ear and begin to create a regular braid or the ever-so dreamy, fishtail braid. Once completed your braids, tie with a clear elastic and repeat on the other side.
Pro Tip: To create a thicker looking braid, “blouse” your braids, meaning slightly pull them apart once tied. (Hughes suggests Moroccanoil’s Dry Texture Spray to blouse each braid for a thicker look).
STEP 3: Next, take a braid from one side and pull it behind to the other side and secure with a bobby pin. Repeat on the other side by crossing the second braid over the first and securing again with a bobby-pin. Slightly rake through your curls with a wide tooth comb to achieve that beachy wave hair to last all day for pictures!
Hughes recommends using Moroccanoil’s Luminous Hairspray Strong Finish, Mending Infusion, and the brand’s Dry Texture Spray to keep curls in place, keep hair frizz-free and to give waves extra volume, respectively.
