Stephen Moody is one of the world’s top educators in the beauty industry.
Working for more than 30 years with Sassoon Salon and Academy before joining Wella Professionals in 2012, Moody is currently the brand’s North American education director. He leads the development of Wella’s education, to provide hairstylists with an advanced curriculum to equip them with the skills to learn and grow.
And in 2021, he is celebrating his 40th year in the industry. To mark the special milestone, Moody was recently nominated as a finalist in two categories at the 2021 North American Hairstylist Awards (NAHA)—in his first year entering!
With NAHA’s recent rule changes (due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions) that allowed previous work to be entered, Moody entered and placed as a finalist in the Educator of the Year and Haircutting categories.
“There is a song that goes, ‘Do something every day that scares you.’ Entering NAHA scared me,” he says. “I had done 35-plus years of mentoring; it was time to enter finally.”
“I am exceedingly proud to be a finalist in the Educator of the Year category alongside Chris Baran, Vivienne MacKinder, Sam Villa, and Tabatha Coffey,” adds Moody. “These people are legends.”
Sending a big congratulations to Moody and wishing him the best of luck at the 2021 NAHA Awards, which are scheduled to take place on August 29th in Las Vegas.
