Surrealist modernism runs through Tim Hartley’s latest collection, created for the British Hairdresser of the Year Awards. “I took my inspiration from cultural references through the late 20th century and ‘objects of desire’ that became iconic landmarks for the development of shape and texture in functional objects,” he says. “I was interested in giving the hair the ultimate opportunity to express its natural personality while embracing some very traditional techniques such as pin curling. Quite simply I wanted to make the hair, the star.”
