This photo-based hair and grooming competition encourages barbers and stylists to showcase their men’s styling skills and techniques, by creating original looks with American Crew products that showcase the brand’s classic and cutting edge appeal.
And the Canadian winner is… Sandra Perovic! This Vancouver-based barber and men’s stylist is no rookie when it comes to this competition as she was also the global winner in 2016 and the national winner again last year.
What’s the next step for Perovic? Her nationally-ranked cut and style will be submitted to the All-Star Challenge Global Committee and will be judged based on various competencies including:
Barbering: Mastery of clipper skills, fading and shaving.
High Texture: Ability to display technical skills, shape, and control whilst working with highly textured hair.
Length: Excellence in cutting and styling hair with length while maintaining a masculine edge.
Retro: Ability to recreate a classic cut from the past.
Trend: Ability to be creative and think ahead by producing a shape or style that could become a trend.
The global committee will name their top five competitors as the 2020 Global All-Star Challenge Winners, which will be announced in April. Winners would receive $5,000 and a trip to Los Angeles to participate in an editorial photo shoot directed and shot by American Crew founder, David Raccuglia.
“The looks created by these country’s winners are next-level and the All-Star Challenge Global Committee has a tough job on their hands as we move forward in selecting the five global winners,” says Raccuglia. “These countries’ winners have already achieved great success, providing excitement and inspiration to the men’s barbering community worldwide, and we are looking forward to further sharing their creativity and skill.”
