The Salon team travelled to Long Beach, California to attend the 2020 International Salon and Spa Expo (ISSE) on January 25-27, 2020.
With three days of inspiring presentations and education led by some of the industry’s leading experts and brands, it’s no surprise that several Canadians participated in the show, such as Contessa-winning barber and founder of Victory Barber and Brand Matty Conrad, social media influencer and Fanola ambassador Josie Vilay, Salon Scale founder Alicia Soulier and ABA Canada’s executive director Alain Audet.
The show also brought out some of the industry’s most recognizable talent. Matrix’s artistic director Chrystofer Benson, Redken’s global artistic ambassador Sam Villa, Amika’s global artistic director Naeemah Lafond, Sunlights Balayage founder Candy Shaw and many others led educational presentations and classes throughout the weekend. Plus, social media superstar (and Salon cover girl) Larisa Love participated in a meet-and-greet. We also caught up with Adir Abergel, celebrity hairstylist and creative director for Virtue.
Among the weekend’s festivities was the 2020 North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA), where we were front and centre on the red carpet to chat with VIP guests, presenters and finalists including Canada’s Rossa Jurenas and Rodrigo Araneda. See the full list of winners here.
