After introducing its charitable Fade it Forward program last year, Wahl Professional has announced the graduation of their first two students, Sebastian Moore and Andre Whittington.
The 13-month class is in partnership with the Chicago social service organization UCAN and the His & Hers Barber School. The main mission behind Fade it Forward is to help and inspire at-risk youths in Chicago who have a passion and talent for barbering.
In celebration of Wahl’s 100th anniversary, the company also wanted to give back to their community and help end the cycle of poverty. Four students were awarded scholarships valued at $6,100 USD to assist them with gaining the proper education and qualifications to work in the barbering industry. The training program kicked off with a four-week mentorship program at the His & Hers Barber School. The scholarships helped cover the rest of the students’ training.
With such a successful inaugural year, there are plans to expand to St. Louis and Cleveland in 2020, and two new students have already been selected as the next scholarship recipients.
