How-to: Nails from the 2022 Met Gala

For the biggest night in fashion, the attendees of the 2022 Met Gala pulled out all the stops and didn’t miss out on the opportunity to rock some glamourous nails!

From long to short and black to gold, we have step-by-step guides on how to recreate some of this year’s most iconic red-carpet nail looks.

 

How-to: Lizzo

Celebrity nail artist Eri Ishizu created a long, twisted, black and gold manicure for Lizzo.

  1. Prep the nails and shape extensions into a swirl tip with a file.
  2. Apply a base coat on each nail.
  3. Appy two coats of a black gel polish (eg. OPI GelColor in Black Onyx).
  4. Apply a chrome nail powder onto the tips of the nails (eg. OPI Chrome Effect in Gold Digger).
  5. Seal the look by applying a shiny top coat.

 

 How-To: Kerry Washington

Celebrity nail artist Kim Truong gave Kerry Washington simple yet beautiful nails which featured a thin black design to match her black Met Gala gown.

  1. Prep the nails and apply a base coat to each nail.
  2. Apply one coat of a soft, beige pink polish (eg. of OPI GelColor in Put it in Neutral).
  3. Using a detail brush paint on accent designs using a black polish (eg. OPI GelColor in Black Onyx).
  4. Finish up the look with a top coat.

 

How-To: Sydney Sweeney

Celebrity nail artist Zola Ganzorigt didn’t miss the mark with these sparkly nails for the Euphoria actress.

  1. Prep the nails and apply a base coat to each nail.
  2. Apply two coats of a light pink nail polish (eg. OPI GelColor in It’s A Girl).
  3. Apply one coat of a gold glitter polish (eg. OPI GelColor in Depth Leopard).
  4. Seal the look with a top coat.
  5. Apply desired jewels all over each nail.

 

How-To: Joe Jonas

Actor and singer Joe Jonas sported short but bold two-tone nails, created by celebrity nail artist Julie Kandelec.

  1. Prep the nails and apply a base coat to each nail.
  2. Apply a black polish to each nail (eg. OPI Nature Strong in Onyx Skies).
  3. Apply a matte top coat to each nail.
  4. Use a gold chrome power to paint abstract shapes on each nail ( OPI Chrome Effect in Gold Digger).
  5. Seal the look with a top coat.

 

How-To: Hailey Bieber

Hailey Bieber was rocking a sheer pink nail from celebrity nail artist Zola Ganzorigt to complement her Met Gala outfit.

  1. Prep the nails and apply a base coat to each nail.
  2. Apply one coat of a milky white nail polish (eg. OPI GelColor in Funny Bunny).
  3. Apply a thin layer of a chrome powder top coat such as the OPI Chrome Effects No-Cleanse Top Coat and then rub a titanium chrome powder on each nail such as theOPI Chrome Effects in Tin Man Can.
  4. Finish up the look with a top coat.

 

How-to: Sabrina Carpenter

Celebrity nail artist Zola Ganzorigt dazzled up Sabrina Carpenter’s look with neutral nails that featured jewels and gold accents.

  1. Prep the nails and apply a base coat to each nail.
  2. Apply one coat of a neutral cream polish (eg. OPI GelColor in Pale to the Chief).
  3. Apply one coat of a soft, beige pink polish (eg. OPI GelColor in Put it in Neutral).
  4. Create an outline on nails with a metallic gold polish (eg. OPI GelColor in Suzi’s Slinging Mezcal).
  5. Apply a thin layer of a chrome powder top coat on the outline such as the OPI Chrome Effects No-Cleanse Top Coat and then rub a chrome powder on the outline such as the OPI Chrome Effect in “Gold Digger.”
  6. Apply a top coat to all nails.
