With the ongoing and devastating war in Ukraine, Maritime Beauty is working with the Atlantic Ukrainian Association to collect donations to help those in need.
Beginning in mid-March, the Maritime Beauty management team gathered together to find ways to support Ukrainians.
“We considered local options and found the newly formed, non-profit Atlantic Ukrainian Association, which is based in Halifax,” says Ann Sharpe, Aveda Atlantic sales manager and education director, who kick-started the initiative with Maritime Beauty. “We felt this association would get supplies and help to Ukraine and bordering areas with displaced Ukrainians as expeditiously as possible.”
Maritime Beauty has shipped supplies such as medical equipment, sleeping bags, lighters and many other necessities. “These items were dropped off within days of our decision to participate on March 12th, and were a small contribution in the larger delivery of humanitarian aid that has since arrived in Ukraine,” says Sharpe. “The volunteers with this organization are amazing and have worked tirelessly to pack and load donations received from many organizations and individuals.”
In addition to providing immediate support and supplies, Maritime Beauty stores are continuing to collect donations of supplies and financial contributions in $5 increments, which are dispersed to Atlantic Ukrainian Association on a bi-monthly basis.
“Maritime Beauty is overwhelmed and touched by the generous support of our staff, salons, and stylists in our region,” says Sharpe. “The people of Ukraine and their families desperately need help; every donation of supply or money—big or small—is appreciated and will go a long way.”
