Highly anticipating the 61st Grammy Awards, we were excited to see which music icons would stun the red carpet with fabulous hair and beauty looks. Here are a few that caught our attention.
Alicia Keys
Alicia Keys, the host of this year’s Grammy Awards, caught our attention from the beginning of the night as she walked the red carpet in a long, red gown. This look, rocked with her natural curls and minimal makeup, really made a statement of confidence and empowerment. — Lucy Mazzucco, digital editorial coordinator
Katy Perry
There is nobody better than pop persona Katy Perry to pull off this pink confection of a dress and make it look great! But what really ties it together is her perfect mini-pompadour with an edgy shadow root. – Yasmin Grothé, editor-in-chief (French)
Alessia Cara
The 22-year-old singer from Brampton, Ont. was nearly unrecognizable at this year’s Grammys, switching up her signature pantsuits and sneakers for an ultra-feminine red-carpet look. Transforming her natural curls into undone waves, her makeup was all about the classics—a cat eye and bold red lip—which paired beautifully with her all-black dress. — Veronica Boodhan, managing editor
Lilly Singh
Woven with golden highlights, Lily Singh’s long brunette waves with a deep side part was the perfect match for her bold silver jumpsuit. Accessorizing the slicked back side part with a little sparkle really played up a high-energy vibe that one would expect on the Grammy’s red carpet. — Anna Lee Boschetto, editor-in-chief
Janelle Monae
Janelle Monae’s look was definitely memorable this year. Her short, asymmetrical-lined dress with geometric shoulders, was paired with a gold-embellished head dress which made a bold statement. Worn with plum heels, mismatched earrings and a long braid, this ensemble was anything but ordinary. — Lucy Mazzucco, digital editorial coordinator
St. Vincent
With her sleek, symmetrical black bob and monochrome look St.Vincent, who won the Grammy for best rock song, captures the current whim for floral prints combined with minimal hair and makeup. – Yasmin Grothé, editor-in-chief (French)
Camila Cabello
Pretty in pink: Camila Cabello was radiant on the Grammy red-carpet in a high-neck, long-sleeved sparkly pink Armani gown, complete with a plunging back. To complete the look, the singer wore her hair in a low-ponytail, with her curtain bangs swept to the sides to give her that effortless “cool girl” look, finished with simple and fresh makeup. — Veronica Boodhan, managing editor
Jada Pinkett Smith
Jada Pinkett Smith’s strong pixie cut with subtle, almost smoky highlights was a strong compliment to the softness of her blush pink gown. Her makeup echoed the monochromatic softness with a rose eye and glossy lip palette. — Anna Lee Boschetto, editor-in-chief
