The 70’s inspired voluminous hair look has made a huge comeback over the past couple of years and clients are looking for the best way to achieve this look at home and in the salon. Award-winning Ireland based hairdresser Sharon Malcom has given us step-by-step detail on how to create these perfect voluminous waves for your client.
How To: Retro Voluminous Waves
Step 1: Prep the hair with a routine shampoo and condition and towel dry until damp.
Step 2: Once damp, blow dry the hair using a round bristle brush to ensure the hair is smooth and soft.
Step 3: Starting at the nape of the neck, begin curling sections with a large curling barrel and then secure each section with a long silver clip.
Step 4: Continue working round the head in a brickwork technique until the entire head is completely curled and pinned to cool
Step 5: Create a side part and brush the top two sections to the side to create a soft quiff through the front.
Step 6: Tease the hair with a soft bristle brush, then gently backcomb behind the ear.
Step 7: Finish off the look with a flexible hold hairspray and accessories.
