Matrix has announced the winners of Mentor.Me, a new program for hairstylists and students who are looking to refine their craft.
The 10 winners of the Mentor.Me Student and Mentor.Me Stylist programs were judged on their video submissions, along with their work on social media.
“We really wanted to ensure that the story of why they wanted to be chosen was one that we could connect with,” says Joshua Balint, national education and events director for Matrix Canada. “We know that everyone doesn’t have the same history, so we needed to look at each individual and understand what their story was and why this was important to them. For some, they had a history that was hard, and this was an opportunity to turn things around and grow to be a better version of themselves. For others it was about setting a great example for their children so they can see that things aren’t always easy but if you work hard, you can get that much closer to achieving what you want. For others it was a step in their fairy tale dream to get to their end goal.”
The winners will be participating in a series of virtual classes with two of Matrix’s leading educators, Heidi Kenney and Julio Rodriguez, to help foster their professional growth.
Mentor.Me Student begins on July 19th with Rodriguez, while Mentor.Me Stylist starts on July 26th with Kenney. The winners will have a chance to learn from both mentors on August 23rd and in more classes later this fall and into 2022.
In between classes, Rodriguez and Kenney will conduct one-on-one coaching calls with each mentee for even more personalized training!
Beginning in September, the mentees will also have the opportunity to participate in a Matrix Synergy class, as well as learn from the brand’s global artistic director, Michelle O’Connor, and participate in a BaBylissPRO barbering class.
Congratulations to all winners!
